Ward 6 gets its crossing after nine years of asking

The pedestrian signal at Farnham and Cranbrook was first requested in 2017. It will be installed this autumn, at 4.4 times the original estimate.

A pedestrian signal first requested by the Ward 6 councillor in 2017 will be installed at Farnham and Cranbrook before the end of October.

The 2017 estimate was $86,000. The tendered price is $378,000. Transportation staff attribute the difference to a new traffic-signal standard, utility relocation, and eight years of construction inflation.

Three collisions involving pedestrians have been recorded at the intersection since the request was filed.
