London Transit counted 1.94 million boardings in July, the first month since the pandemic to pass its 2019 figure for the same period.
The commission credits the university and college terms and the free-transfer window introduced last year. Its own service report notes the gain has come on a fleet eleven buses smaller than in 2019, with the difference absorbed by longer headways on six routes.
The 2027 budget request asks for nine replacement buses and two additional operators.
